Frequently Asked Questions
There are a lot of questions to ask when you're looking into a host agency, especially if you're new to the industry! We've tried our best to list our most frequently asked questions below. If you can't find an answer, please don't hesitate to contact us!
Do you have a start-up fee?
We have a one-time set up fee of $199/agent.
Do you require experience?
Nope! We work with new and experienced travel agents alike. For new agents, we have loads of resources to help you learn the ropes. Our friendly support team and supportive network of agents are always around for your questions!
What type of fees can I expect?
The few fees we have are listed clearly in our IC (Independent Contractor) manual. We hate being nickle and dimed and have no desire to do that to anyone else. Monthly access fee aside, you'll generally only see fees for things like, insufficient funds, foreign checks, not invoicing a booking and the like. And while we do offer a free ticketing service for non-GDS agents, there is a small fee if you want us to book a group over 8 passengers
When and how do I get paid?
All commissions are paid via direct deposit to your checking account on the 10th of each month following the month it was received.
What do you require before I join?
Travel Quest requires that agents register a business name with the state they reside in. This is quick and easy to do at your county clerk’s office or your state government.
We also require a phone consultation with us to be sure we are the right fit for your travel business. Don’t worry, it isn’t anything formal! We just like to chat about what type of travel you’re looking to sell, what you are looking for in a host, etc.
How long does the sign-up process take before i can start booking travel?
Typically once you have a name registered and have completed the consultation you will receive your logins within 7 business days. This time frame also depends on your turn around time since we’ll require a couple of signed items like our IC Manual and W9 before we can move on.
Am i considered an employee of travel quest network?
Typically once you have a name registered and have completed the interview you will receive your logins within 7 business days. This time frame also depends on your turn around time since we’ll require a couple of signed items like our IAO Manual and W9 before we can move on.
Do you have a certain production level i must meet?
There are no production levels that must be met. All agents, regardless of their production level receive the same commissions. We do touch base with agents who have not made any bookings over the last 6 months, just to see if there is anything we can do to help you.
do you accept all travel agents into your program?
Short answer, no. That being said, it isn’t a scary or rigorous process. Our phone consultation is where we make sure your goals align with what Travel Quest provides for agents, answer any and all questions you might have and just make sure you’re business and Travel Quest are a good fit!
am i required to give up my clients and my agency name?
Absolutely not! You are simply working as an independent agent for Travel Quest and keep your own business identity. All clients you bring to and attain while at Travel Quest are your clients and will remain your clients.
can i switch between plans?
Of course! We are flexible to the needs of your business. If your business grows, you can jump up to another plan. If you decide to take some time off, you can move down to a lower plan. You can make your first change at any time. After that, we require you stay on the same plan for one year.
how do you know they are my commissions?
Agents fill out a simple online invoice form. From there it will stay in your “Unpaid Commissions” in our agent commission manager. Once Travel Quest receives the commission it will close and move to that month's statement.
do i receive a lower commission split if i do not book a preferred supplier?
No. We don’t want to control who you are able to book through so while we love our preferred suppliers and they offer a lot of benefits to our agents, your commission split with Travel Quest Network stays the same no matter who you book with.
how will i receive my documents?
Unless otherwise noted, all documents received at Travel Quest will be shipped out to agents the same way they were received. I.e. If it came trackable, we send it out trackable. Agents may call supplier and have documents sent directly to them to save on costs.
Is travel quest network preferred with sandals and beaches?
Yes, we are PSS (preferred Sandals specialists) with Sandals and Beaches. This gives us the ability to book agent rates 90 days in advance, pre-register your Sandals clients before arrival, and earn Sandals marketing dollars.
do you provide errors and omissions (e&o) insurance?
Yes, we have a $2,000,000 policy. Although we always encourage our agents to carry their own E & O since our policy covers all of our agents and has a $5000 deductible.
what gds/crs system do you use?
We currently offer Worldspan and Sabre to our experienced agents. Agents must have 2 years of experience on the GDS and pass a fluency interview. Our independent contractors will have complete access to this system along with e-learning, and web-x training. If your travel agency is currently on another GDS, please give us a call about any concerns you may have about switching systems. We're happy to let you speak with some of our agents that changed systems when they came to Travel Quest Network.

We also offer various other FAM trips throughout the year and send the opportunities directly to agents. Some of the FAM trips do require an IATAN card to be eligible but not all of them.
